The senses of meaning and satisfaction are the two mainpsychological indicators of every individual’s life quality. As thesenses of meaning and satisfaction are both closely related to theregulation of emotion, it becomes self-evident that the emotionregulation skills could help to enhance people’s life quality. However, these days most college students are not sophisticated enough toregulate their emotion, and are thus vulnerable to negativepsychological experience such as emptiness, loneliness, andconfusion. Therefore, it becomes necessary to find an efficient wayfor the college students to develop their emotion regulation capability,in order to ensure their mental health.Regular physical exercise is usually considered helpful to improvepeople’s physical and mental health. However, these days mostcollege students would ignore the importance of physical exercise---and one possible reason for this ignorance is that there is a lack ofstudy that could prove the positive correlation between physicalexercise and the emotion regulation skills. Thus, the core content ofthis research is to delve into the correlation between physicalexercise and the emotion regulation skills, in order to encourage college students to participate more into the physical exercises, andthus improve their emotion regulation skills and enhance their lifequality. In order to enhance the reliability and validity of the data, thisresearch uses the “College Students’ Emotion ManagementQuestionnaire”, the “Physical Exercise Measurement Chart” and the“Physical Exercise Questionnaire” to investigate more than1000college students of five different universities in Shanxi Province. Finally, by using the SPAA17statistical software to process the datafrom these questionnaires, the conclusion is as follows:(1)College students do have the consciousness to participatephysical exercises. However, the intensity of the physical exercisesthat the college students participate in is not very ideal.(2) The time, intensity, and frequency that college studentsparticipate in physical exercises are significantly correlated withtheir emotion regulation capability. Moreover, the frequency is thefactor that is most significantly correlated with the emotionregulation capability.
