Henri Lefebvre is the famous French Marxist philosopher, his socialtheory and urban theory have a very far-reaching impact in the theoryof urban space, and until now it play a guiding role in our lives.This paper interprets Henri Lefebvre’s urban space theory, in orderto revealing the production of space play an important role in theprocess of urban development, and then explains his urban ideas forthe modern city planning and construction.This article is divided into three parts; include the introduction, bodyand conclusion. The introduction introduces Lefebvre’s life andacademic experience as well as domestic and foreign scholars on itsspatial theory study. The body part has three chapters, the first chapterintroduces the concept of urban space background and his interest inurban issues and turn to the space problem, the focus of his researchhas experienced a shift from rural to urban. The second chapterdiscusses the production of space theory, that Lefebvre summarize theontological framework of the study about production of space,including space for political and social attributes. Then we discussedthe extension of his concept of space. The third chapter discussesLefebvre’s space theory influences the followed researchers, giving ussome inspirations about contemporary urbanization.Although the urban theory of Lefebvre emerged in the developedcapitalist countries of1960s and1970s, but the bright spot in its theory isbeneficial to Chinas urbanization theory. There are still many to learnfrom, so take the initiative to actively digest absorption for theconstruction of Chinas urban theory is helpful.
