Classroom is the main stage where teaching activities arepresented and students’ learning capacities are fostered. Meanwhile,in English teaching activities, multifunctional and comprehensive sensesof various levels are put to use. This essay aims to provide some effectiveclassroom teaching methods which involve lively interactions betweenteachers and students by eliciting discussions on teaching materialpreparations, question-based teaching tactics, cooperative learning,stratified teaching and multimedia classroom. We put great emphasison the effectiveness of every teaching procedure as well as theevaluation respectively with the purpose of enhancing English teachingqualities in secondary schools.The whole essay is classified into five parts:Part One. IntroductionThis part mainly explains why the writer chooses this topic, andincludes a list of definitions of relative concepts as well as majorresearch methods.Part Two.Divide students into small groups; Set an aim for each group. Turncompetitive and individual learning into cooperative classroomlearning to improve the effectiveness of English teaching.Part Three.Research stratified teaching in English class, valuing the divergenceof the students so that students’ individuality and creativity are fullydeveloped. Ensure the all-round development of children by cultivatingboth their body and mind.Part Four.Properly use multimedia technology in English teaching. By usingmultimedia, there is a switch between the roles of students and teachers. Teachers limit their talking time and leave more time forstudents to involve themselves in the classroom activities.Part five.Formative assessment ensures the English language teachingeffectiveness. Traditional learning evaluation is no longer in line with thenew curriculum notion. Thus, it is necessary to reexamine the traditionalevaluation system and notion to carry out effective reform.
