Life science is one of the important the branches of naturalsciences. It is the necessary scientific capacity for modern high schoolstudents to learn to construct reasonable biological model and applythe related methods into scientific research. The Ordinary High SchoolBiology Course Standard (testing) promulgated by Chinese Ministry ofEducation in2003explicitly pointed out in the Goal of Course Part that:knowledge goals are “to acquire knowledges which are related tobasic biological facts, concepts, principles, laws and models, to knowthe main development directions and achievements of biologicalscience and technologies, to know the important events in biologicalscience history " By analyzing several years’ College EntranceExamination Papers after new curriculum reform began we found thatthe number questions which are concerned of analysis models, buildingmodels are very considerable. The importance of building models andapplying them has been everywhere. The benefits of building models inteaching have been explained by many articles. However, the modelmethods have not been taken seriously in biology teaching of highschool, most teachers think that there are almost no differencesbetween having model construction activities and not having inteaching, and they lack confidence in model construction activities.Here the author illustrated advantages of building models in biologyteaching of high school through the practical teaching experimentsand the relevant data..It can be the reference to high school biology teachers. It can strengthen the confidence and determination inconstruction of teaching model. Therefore, this study has greatpractical significance.This research is divided into three parts, the first part is mainly aboutthe connotation and methods of theory research of model construction,model teaching and teaching model building via documents to buildthe theoretical foundation for the research; The second part is aquestionnaire survey to find out the status of models teaching in highschool; the third part consists of constructivist teaching experiment toexperimental class, compiling statistical experimental data, and gettingthe conclusion and reflection.Through research we draw the following conclusions. First,modeling teaching can enhance students’ learning interest in Biology.Second, it can improve students biological modeling capabilities. Third,it can upgrade the biological academic record.In summary, we have gotten the following reflections: First,teachers should realize the importance of modeling. Second, modelingactivities should be carefully designed and Organized because of thelimited time. Third accurate evaluation in time can improve theeffectiveness of the modeling activities. Fourth, teachers shouldmodeling teach students methods of modeling learning duringmodeling teaching.
