The new curriculum put emphasis on the development of all the students, the function of students’existing knowledge and experience on the future further study, as well as the close combination of biology course and the daily life and society. As we know, in the new curriculum reform, the knowledge goal of the senior high school biology course requires the students to master the basic knowledge about some basic biology science facts, concepts, theories, principles and models, which also indicates that these basic facts are extremely significant to the continuous future understanding and further research about the basic concepts, theories, principles and models, rather than just simply demand the students to recite some complex biology facts.As we know, so much knowledge is included in the senior high school biology course, which requires us to master based on understanding. Therefore, the teaching mode in the basis of understanding seems extremely important and valuable in the teaching of biology course. According to the TFU (Teaching For Understanding) teaching mode, before teaching, our teachers need to think over some important biology concepts and the characteristics of the students, then design some inspiring topics and understanding goal, adding some relative class activities and finally the continuous study evaluation to evaluate whether the students attain the goals.Therefore, whether the TFU teaching mode can put the concept teaching into teaching practice, whether it can improve the students’biology science quality become a question that we teachers should think over and concern about in our teaching practice, and also it’s the purpose of this study.The study focuses on experiment method supported by survey method, adopting the parallel group pre-examination&post-examination quasi experiment design. Two senior high school classes in Tianjin No.32Middle School were selected for experiment, an experimental class and a contrasting class being randomly designated. The TFU teaching mode is implemented in the experimental class to work out the teaching design and the teaching practice to carry out the concept teaching, while the traditional senior high school biology teaching mode is adopted in the contrasting class. The experimental data will be collected in a year; and the data statistics analysis by the excel computer software is carried out; the Z test is employed to the differences of the teaching effect level.The result of the study shows that improving the concept teaching of biology course based on the TFU teaching mode has improved the grades of the students in biology, has facilitated the development of the students in study interest and creation and has achieved the intended effect. Hence, the study boasts the feasibility and substantial results, which results in a beneficial exploration in the teaching practice in the new curriculum reform and a study with certain theoretical and practical meaning.
