HPS teaching mode is a teaching mode based on the essence of science and infiltrating the history of science,philosophy of science and sociology of science.HPS teaching in senior high school biology teaching is not only the need to cultivate students' core literacy,but also the requirement to improve students' comprehensive quality and realize the effectiveness of classroom teaching in the new college entrance examination.This study investigated the views and suggestions of high school students in a middle school in Zhangzhou city on HPS teaching,and interviewed front-line biology teachers to understand the current situation of HPS teaching in high school biology.It was found that both students and teachers highly affirmed the teaching value of HPS,but due to the lack of class hours and teachers' theoretical understanding,HPS teaching was less applied and the effect was not ideal.Based on this,drawing on the integration mode of Munk and Osborne,according to the requirements of the core literacy of the development discipline,this study divides the HPS teaching mode into four categories,namely,the history of Science-life concept,the history of Science-demonstration ability,the history of Science-critical thinking,and the Science-social responsibility teaching mode,and classifies the teaching design.This study takes "photosynthesis and energy conversion" and "structure and function of nucleus" in the compulsory 1 Textbook of biology in senior high school as an example,carries out quasi experimental teaching practice with reference to HPS teaching mode,and evaluates students' life concept and sense of social responsibility before and after learning.The results show that using HPS teaching mode for teaching,students' view of scientific essence,science and technology,scientific knowledge and overall life concept are significantly better than conventional teaching,and students' awareness of participating in social affairs,paying attention to social issues and healthy life and overall social responsibility are also significantly improved.Therefore,when the teaching environment allows and the teaching content is appropriate,teachers can choose to apply HPS teaching mode for classified teaching to promote the development of students' core qualities such as life concept and social responsibility.
