The situation of college students’employment is very serious nowadays, and one important reason is that the students lack of employment ability. The so-called "employment ability" refers to a comprehensive quality that the students obtain through studying in the college, and a dynamic capability through which the students will meet the demands of the future work. With the shift from planned economy to market economy in China’s economic system, the employment ability of college students is endowed with new concept, including good master of professional knowledge and skills, extensive views of knowledge, ability of hunting jobs independently and self-improvement, lifelong learning, etc. To understand the current situation of college students’employment ability, based on the previous relevant researchers and the advice given by some experts in the field of education and psychology, the thesis attempts to design questionnaire in three aspects, such as active learning, career planning and participation in practical activities. Through correlation analysis, regression analysis and variance analysis, it is found that there exist a positive correlation among active learning, career planning, practice and the employment force, which exerts fundamental influence on the employment ability, a moderate correlation between practice and employment ability and active learning and a low correlation between career planning and the employment ability. The improvement of students’employment ability is an all-around systematic project which not only needs college’s continuous efforts and explorations and support of the society, as well as students’own efforts. In terms of practice, the attention of college students is not enough, the numbers of practical activities are less. Meanwhile, social practice type and college students’profession are in low correlation, and the effectiveness of the social practice is not high. To solve these problems, it is of great necessity to transform our value and pay more attention to students’employment abilities. And it is important to organize various practical activities and carry out the reform of teaching and instructional evaluation methods. With regard to career planning, the college students lack career planning consciousness and related knowledge, the timeliness of the career planning is inadequate, and the execution is also insufficient, so the college should strengthen its publicity, enhance career planning curriculum development and the work of teaching, and establish a sound supervision and administration mechanism. On the aspect of self-directed learning, the learning enthusiasm of college students is not high, and the initiative is insufficient, so we should advocate self-directed learning, reform teaching methods, create a favorable atmosphere in the classroom and harmonious relation between teacher and students, intensify the teaching discipline management and assess students’academic performance in scientific and reasonable way.
