The English Curriculum Standard (test version) firmly states that a comprehensivemulti-dimensional system of English educational resources should be established, andstudents are required to make good use of various kinds of curriculum resources for study.Along with the implementation of the English Curriculum Standard, the importance of thecurriculum resources has revealed day after day. People are beginning to realize that withoutadequate curriculum resources it would be impossible to carry out the new ideas of Englishteaching and reach the new standard suggested by the English Curriculum Standard.Therefore, how to develop and utilize the curriculum resources has become a fairly newsubject of study, as well as a spotlight and a difficult point in the English teaching reform.However, the general survey of research shows the study of curriculum resources is still at thepreliminary stage and few mature achievements are made, and the development andutilization of curriculum resources for English teaching in senior high school especially needsfurther study in terms of width and depth.This study is mainly a questionnaire-based survey. The author selected200Grade Oneand Grade Two senior high school students and their English teachers from two high schoolsin Yantai as subjects, aiming to discuss the following questions: first, the teachers’ awarenessof development and utilization of curriculum resources; second, the current situation ofdevelopment and utilization of curriculum resources in their English teaching; third, thestudents’ attitude towards the development and utilization of the English curriculum resources.The basic findings showed that the teachers had a generally low awareness of curriculumresources, and their competence of developing and utilizing the English curriculum resourceswas generally poor, many teachers just adopted simple methods in developing and utilizingcurriculum resources. The students’ attitude towards the development and utilization of theEnglish curriculum resources by themselves was generally negative. The author also offerssome suggestions as to how to properly develop and utilize the curriculum resources inEnglish teaching in senior high school.
