A great quantity of rural migrant workers swarm into cities with the further deepening of China’sreform and opening up, the sustained development of economical society. However, on account of thenational policy and economic constraints or other reasons, the rural migrant works’ children, can only stayat home, thus forming a enormous and sepcial vulnerable group of the left-behind children during theChinese social transition period. According to the latest statics of National Women’s Federation in2008,the total number of rural left-behind children in China is about58000000, it account for about18%—22%of the local children. There are30%left-behind children whose parents work outside for over five years.Compared to the children in the family which with perfect structure, the rural left-behind children’s healthcare, personal safety, mental health, education, learning and some other aspects are not effectivelyprotected, they faced academic failure, safety lost insurance, loss of family ties, psychological imbalanceand other problems, their health growth has been seriously affected under the circumstances. If the causewhich form this phenomenon in the economic, political, cultural and other aspects of the disorder has notbeen to reformed and cleared away, this problem will be hard to get alleviated in short-term, and willcontinue to affect our country’s economy development and social stability.This paper takes the social support network theory as the theoretical basis, and begins from theperspective of social support, takes the research methods which are combined with qualitative method andquantitative method in order to achieve first hand information. It makes a depth analysis on the problemswhich faced by the rural left-behind children and the causes of the formation of these problems whichconsist of life, education, security and psycology, etc. Through the combing on the rural left-behindchildren’s social support network in subject, object and media aspects, get the conclusion: the problems thatthe left-behind children in rural areas are facing with in life, learning, security, psychological mainlycaused by inadequate support of the social support network. Following the principle of finding problems,analyzing problems and problem-solving research ideas, this paper makes a further argument on the currentproblems of the social support network of rural left-behind children, and based on this exploration thispaper proposes to improve the rural left-behind children’s social support network paths and methods, namely that started with the levels of the government support, the social support and the individual support,and establish a social support network that takes the government support as the core, maintain a deeprelationship of social support and individual support, while every support system could closely copratedwith each other. So that to help the plight of the rural left-behind children solve their life, learning,security, psychological and other aspects of the problems, make their the basics of survival right,development right, protection of rights, the development of the right should be protected, and to maintainsocial stability and promote social fairness, so that children can live a happy life, have healthy growth, getcomprehensive development.
