The world is divers and complex. As a result of limitation of our vision, it is impossibleto cover a panoramic view, so the most direct way to catch more information is to read.Reading riches our life, drawing lessons from others, inspiring potential、creativity andintelligence,and broadening the horizon of individual thought. The researcher found inthe contact with deaf students in college that, as to them, reading is their key anddifficult point. Lack of reading ability affects not only their course study, but also theirinterpersonal relationship and communication. This disturbs their normal life and study.The researcher also found that most deaf students’ early reading experience is shortage.Due to hearing impairment affecting early reading behavior to foster and develop, theyhave difficulty in reading, which directly influences their life、study and work.Although parents are the first teachers and spend the longest time with their children,they laid most stress on aural rehabilitation instead of early education, causing them tomiss the critical period to foster reading ability. So working hard for them is necessaryto hold the critical period of reading and develop the good reading behavior, the sameto guidance from parents. Therefore parent-child reading, as the way to guide deafchildren reading, is effective as well as the trend in the future.The study is a case study. After searching and analyzing reading research status ofdeaf children at home and broad, the study in-depth analyzes how parent-child readinginfluences deaf children reading behavior,and further to find the factors that influencetheir reading、the key components of deaf children reading behavior, while evaluate itseffectiveness. According to the results, the study concludes the important content、problems and suggestion in the process of parent-child reading improving their readingbehavior, aiming at improving deaf children reading as well as promoting developmentof reading ability. The purpose of this study is to discuss the influence of parent-childreading on deaf children reading, thereafter to confirm the effectiveness of this readingmethod, giving their parents advice and suggestion in the help of guiding effectivereading.The findings are as follows:(1) Deaf children have obvious difficulty in reading;(2) Parent-child reading plays a positive role in promoting reading routine、verbalcomprehension and oral expression;(3) In the process of parent-child reading, thereading level of deaf children is directly influenced by their parents’ reading habit、reading surroundings and familiarity to instructional methods and strategies;(4) In theprocess of parent-child reading, parents are emulating, so encouragement andassistance should be giving to them as well. Finally, the study gives some suggestion involving future research on time、object、environment、teaching method,etc,and also poses some problems.
