As the deep roots of many social problems, social exclusion has drawn much attention by social scholars and policy researchers. And in recent years, more and more psychologists focus their attention on social exclusion, aroused a lot of researches relating to the relationship between social exclusion and interpersonal behavior. However, it has been hotly debated that social exclusion activates positive interpersonal behavior or avoiding interpersonal behavior. The possible reasons are as follows:one is that different researchers used different means to start social exclusion, causing diverse forms of social exclusion, and arousing exclusion feeling in varying degrees. The other is that previous studies didn’t distinguish interpersonal object, that is when excluded individuals interact with different interpersonal person, their interpersonal tendency are unlike. Based on this, the author started from the essential meaning of social exclusion, created rejection situation that similar to real life and constructed different level of social exclusion through setting up situation. In order to investigate how the different levels (degree) of social exclusion affects the individuals’interpersonal tendency (including interpersonal intention and interpersonal behavior,) to excluder and irrelevant people, and the psychological mechanism of relationship between social exclusion and interpersonal tendency.More specifically, the contents of this thesis are carried out as following:firstly, reviewed the literature of the past and identified the meaning of social exclusion, the concept of social exclusion refers to the phenomenon that people’s need of belongingness and social relationships is thwarted because the one receives negative attention, refusal word and interpersonal deprivation. And then based on the current college students’actual life, created rejection situation and constructed different level of social exclusion through setting up situation, measured exclusion feeling and selected two rejection situation that can stimulate different degree (level) feelings of social exclusion. Finally, investigated how the different degree of social exclusion affects the individuals’interpersonal tendency to excluder and irrelevant people in the rejection situation, and the effect of rejection sensitivity. We conducted our researches step by step, and finally got the following main conclusions:(1)Rejection situations designed by author can effectively arouse different levels (degree) of exclusion feeling.(2)Social exclusion can reduce the participants’interpersonal intention or behavior(to irrelevant people and to excluder), but the degree of social exclusion can not make significant difference in participants’interpersonal tendency to irrelevant person and to excluder.(3)There is a significant interaction between the degree of social exclusion and rejection sensitivity in excluded participants’interpersonal tendency to excluder, that is rejection sensitivity plays different roles in the relationship between the degree of social exclusion and interpersonal tendency. The results of this study have consistent place of the previous research results, also appeare some new results, which has important significance for the theory research and practice research of social exclusion.
