Teacher professional development is the current focus of attention, but theessence and core of the professional development of teachers is the teachers’ professionalattainment. According to literatures, deep and systematic study on the domestic research is lack ofprofessional quality of rural primary school teachers. On the basis of reading a lot of relatedliterature, this paper adopts the method of questionnaire, interview of X City rural primary schoolteachers were investigated, the main contents include: rural primary school teachers’ basicsituation, professional knowledge, professional ability, professional affection and the factors ofprofessional quality of primary school teachers in rural areas of influence. Based on theinvestigation on the current situation of rural primary school teachers’ professional quality,questionnaire on gradually find the cause of the problem of rural primary school teachersprofessional quality at present, and puts forward some countermeasures and strategies to enhancethe professional quality of teachers in rural primary school.From the investigation results showthat: Rural primary school teachers’ professional knowledge is generally good, but the knowledgeabout the frontiers of knowledge on primary school education is less well understood; Theprofessional competence of teachers in general, the teaching evaluation ability, control ability ofthe uneven development, scientific research consciousness is strong, but the ability of scientificresearch, needs to be strengthened; Teachers’ professional affection is generally good, the majorityof strong occupation belief, caring for students, but the responsibility is low. The cause of theproblem of rural primary school teachers’ professional quality is mainly from two aspects, namely,the external environment factors and the factors of teachers. The external environmental factorsare: evaluation of rural primary school education funding shortage, the degree ofattention to the rural elementary education is not high, the low status of rural primaryschool teachers and poor treatment of teachers, the single appraisal methodof the teachers’, less of teachers’ professional training opportunities, and lack ofeffectiveness and pertinence. Teachers are the main factors: the teacher occupationburnout, teachers professional self awareness is generally low.Aiming at the problems and reasons in the rural primary school teachers’professional quality, this paper put forward countermeasures and strategies andenhance the professional quality of primary school teachers in rural areas from theaspects of internal and external environment. The external environment of the recommendations: increase investment in rural primary school education, to ensurethe quality of rural primary school teachers; improve the system of teachers’professional development in rural primary school; improve the social status ofteachers, establish a good image of occupation; to improve teachers’ professionalevaluation system, to enhance teachers’ self-efficacy; to strengthen the pertinence thetraining of teachers’ professional quality. The teacher’s advice: to enrich the teachers’professional knowledge, broaden the horizons of knowledge; strengthen the educationof teachers monitor ability, promoting the teachers’ awareness of self reflection; firmbelief in education, strengthen teachers’ self development consciousness.
