In the information era of knowledge update quickly, the ability of independent learningand innovation has become the key to students’ academic achievement and the personaldevelopment. The ability to self-monitoring and time management is the indispensable factorwhat promote independent learning. In the paper, the methods of questionnaires andpsychological experiment were used to research on the current situation and existent problemsabout the track and field selected students’ ability of self-monitoring and time management,and based on the analysis of the average achievement according to self-monitoring ability ortime management ability of students majored in track and field, a regression equation model isbuild. Its findings as follows:1. In the general level of self-monitoring ability, the theoretical study monitoring ofstudents majored in track and field was significantly lower than the professional studymonitoring. There is no significant difference in every factors among boys and girls, studentsmajored in sports education and sports training, but boys’ average score less than girls’, andbetter than girls in execution, feedback and recovery, the average score students majored insports education in every aspect are slightly higher than the score of the students majored insports training.2. There were differences in different grade, the self-monitoring learning ability of studentsin the second year of college was superior to junior and freshman; There was no differencebetween the only child and not only child in overall level, except that the not only child wasobviously better than the only children in the feedback and recovery dimensions. There wasno difference between urban and rural students.3. Among the score of time management, the score of time monitoring was minimum. Thephenomenon that consciousness and behavior were separated wasexistence. There was nosignificant difference between urban students and rural students in each factors, urbanstudents were superior to the rural students only in goal setting factor.4. There were very significant difference between students majored in sports education andstudents majored in sports training. Students majored in sports education were better than thestudents majored in sports training in each dimension and factor; There is no significantdifference between the only child and the not only child, except that the only child was betterthan the not only child in social orientation.5. There was significant correlation between self-monitoring ability and academicperformance, and also between time management and academic performance. Specific to each factor, time management tendency of students majored in track and field affects averageacademic performance by the social orientation, setting goals, feedback and time distribution.6. The self-monitoring ability of students majored in track and field affects the academicachievement by implementing factors; There were very significant correlation betweenself-monitoring ability and time management tendency in all dimensions and factors.7. Regression analysis shows that there was very significant positive correlation the averageacademic performance to the implementing factors of self-monitoring ability and, and also tosocial orientation, target setting and feedback, but management efficiency is very significantnegative correlation to the average academic performance.
