There has been20years since the implementation of nine-year compulsory education in1986. At present, China has basically popularized the nine-year compulsory education; however, the senior high school education converging the junior high school education has ushered in a prominent issue:the status quo of the loss of senior high school students has been more and more serious; especially it is even more serious in rural areas. Senior high school education is an important stage of education, which plays a connecting role in the entire national education system and plays a decisive role in China’s socialist modernization. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the reasons for the loss of rural senior high school students and seek for effective strategies to reduce the loss of rural senior high school students. Previous studies are mainly survey and interview to explore the loss of the current rural senior high school students, so the study lacks depth and breadth without systematic and theoretical study. In this study, what is the difference from the past topics is that this study directly walks into the senior high school life of rural senior high school students, bases on the life reality of rural senior high school students and takes the qualitative research for the orientation. To explore the loss reasons for the rural senior high school students through the narrative way could make the loss of rural senior high school students tend to be systematic so as to seek for the countermeasures to reduce the loss of rural senior high school students.This study adopts the narrative research method. The author keeps close contact and observation with three rural senior high school dropouts and tracks their life after the loss, interviews with their teachers and families, and then organizes and analyzes their data to thus build the life story of rural senior high school dropouts. The author is not only a narrator, but also the researcher, who describes and summarizes the analysis of their stories, and digs the reason for the loss of rural senior high school students from the stories that they tell and their lives as well as his own experience, and then puts forward some recommendations. The author thinks that the main methods to reduce the loss of rural senior high school students are: first, an unswerving implementation of the quality education; second, strengthening cultural basic construction in rural areas; third, further perfecting and carrying out the job of helping the poor students; fourth, reforming the entrance examination system and training model of higher education. The author expects a deeper understanding of the loss of rural senior high school students from the research methods and seeks for countermeasures to reduce the loss of rural senior high school students, so that we could develop rural economy more rapidly, accelerate the urbanization process, and better ensure the construction of socialist modernization and the demand of new rural construction for talents.
