Abstract/Summary:
The innovation of the teaching materials for the primary andsecondary schools is the central issue of the whole educationinnovation, as the important links, the research and construction ofChinese textbook for high schools play more and more important roles,especially under the background of teaching reformation of the NewCurriculum.When we are faced with the following conditions, like theframeworks of the teaching materials become more complicated aftermany revisions and the compiling becomes more difficult, the textbookdiverges from the characteristics of Chinese and the cognitive laws ofstudents; it has certain of current significance to look closely at thefrustration of Chinese textbook since one century, learn these successesfrom it and carry on the comparative study between Chinese textbookand foreign language textbook with an developing crossover-view.The Chinese Textbook for Senior2in the second phase of NewCurriculum Reform of Shanghai (published in August,2007, chieflyedited by Tiexian Wang and Guihua Zheng, which will hereafter bereferred to as the Shanghai Education Edition) and AmericanLanguage (The translation of The American Experience for Grade11,which is published in2007by American Prentice Hall Company inBoston, Massachusetts,which will hereafter be referred to as BostonEdition.) are used as cases studies in this thesis.This thesis does a static comparative study from the microcosmicpoint of view, analyzes each characteristic and defines the differenceand the sameness of these two textbooks. Basing on these, it providesthe advices in optimizing and perfecting the native Chinese textbook.Firstly, this paper analyzes the major background of composing ofthese two editions—the developing outline of Sino-US mother-tonguetextbooks, discusses the theory of compiling system which can be used for reference, takes it as the cultural background and the theoreticalbasis of comparison on teaching materials.Secondly, this paper makes the analysis and comparison from twothreads. In the vertical direction, it gives an integral analysis ofcomparative study on compiling system for these two editions, and findsout the different design ideas and compiling theory from these two setsof language textbooks. In horizontal direction, it analyzes the content ofthese two textbooks carefully, takes the text system, material system(which help students understand the text), exercise system as thebreakthrough point.Finally, this paper dissuss the useful enlightenment to thecompiling of Shanghai Education Edition’s senior Chinese textbook orother local Chinese teaching materials,from the aspects of BostonEdition’s highlighting the correlation of interdisciplinary with disciplinary,training and improving the students’ self-taught capability, attachinggreat importance to the integration of traditional experiences andmodern life.
