The outstanding talent training is very important link and support of the industry-university-research cooperation, but it is overlooked for long time. Reviewing the former study, it is found that domestic study of industry-university-research emphasized on its cooperative mode classification, structure of various modes, characteristics and cooperative mechanism. Research on industry-university-research cooperation mode is limited; it’s all based on the single subject of the school, ignoring the linkage effect of subjects in personnel training of industry-university-research cooperation and did not conduct in-depth theoretical and empirical research.The stance of this paper is how to cultivate outstanding talents by means of industry-university-research cooperation. This paper mainly analyses the outstanding talents cultivation problems between the cooperation of Hunan Nonferrous Metals Holding Group Co., Ltd. and the Central South University by the methods of case study method, from the aspects of governmental function omission, enterprise overall planning and safeguard mechanism deficiency, university lacking long-acting mechanism, analyzing the industry-university-research cooperating talent training, discussing the reasons for problems existing, attempting to raise a constructive way selection mode, that is establishing the idea of pursuit of excellence, building mechanism of training outstanding talents, broadening channels of talents training and deepening the educational and teaching reform.
