Along with the deepening of the basic education reform in rural areas, theprofession development of primary and secondary school teachers has become the hotissues in the educational research field, which attracts great attention of the massscholars. But there are few people to explore it from the perspective of CareerAnchors Theory. The Career Anchors of the rural teachers are favorable to thepromotion of the individual teachers and their managers to enrich and develop theteachers’“career anchors”, so as to promote their career development. Not only is thisthe only way to improve basic education in rural areas under the existing conditionsbut important measurements to achieve the balance of urban and rural education andthe education modernization in rural areas.Career Anchors, also known as the profession moorage point, is a tool that makespeople stay in some certain careers and a surrounding center for people to choose anddevelop their careers. The teachers’ profession development, also called the teachers’lifelong exploration, refers to the process of the constant development of teachers’professional knowledge, professional competence, professional quality andprofessional achievement and positions changing over time. Its dimension issubdivided into eight aspects as the knowledge and skills, vocational aptitude,motivation and needs, strengths and weaknesses, values and attitudes, career path,family life cycle, and career information; The types of "Career Anchors" include eightaspects as the technical functions, management, independent, safety and stability,creation, service-orientation, challenging and livelihood; The process of teachers’profession development is to establish the "Career Anchors". In this process, everyonegradually formed a clear career-related self-concept according to their own talents,abilities, motivations, needs, attitudes, values and so on. Career Anchor Theory isfavorable to objectively assess their knowledge and skills, to understand theireducational career aptitude, to clearly understand of their educational careermotivation and needs, to play to their strengths and weaknesses, to quite aware oftheir values and attitudes, to expect our own career path, to understand their ownfamily life cycle, and to concern about their career information.From the perspective of "Career Anchors", the survey found that the structure ofrural teachers’ profession development is unbalanced; the vocational aptitude does not match the profession; the rural teachers lack of the development motivations; the ruralteachers’ professional values tend to be materialistic; family life cycles have too muchimpact on the rural teachers’ profession development; and the information channelsare too narrow, etc. As to this, the article put forward the following specific measures:update the concept of traditional knowledge and enhance the unique skills; respect fordifferent professional aptitudes and train the positive emotions; concern about thedifferent career motivation to inspire the new needs; create a diversified developmentopportunity to expand the career path; focus on the marriage and family life topromote the happiness of the life; and construct and dredge the channels ofinformation to enhance the information literacy.
