A Study On University Student’s Career Adaptability And Career Guidance

This study of university student’s career adaptability aim to explore the general characteristics of university student’s career adaptability and its influencing factors, and understand the current situation of career guidance in university, in order to enrich the research of career adaptability, to provide corresponding theoretical support to university career guidance. The influencing factors can be considered as the starting point, put forward some targeted suggestions and guidance plans for university student’s career guidance education.This study investigates1037students by’University Student’s Career Adaptability Inventory’,’Work Value Inventory’and’Evaluation on University Career Guidance Questionnaire’, combine with surveys on part of students and college career guidance personnels, the results showed that:1.The current university student’s overall level of career adaptability is relatively high, but the dimensions of internal structure are showing unbalanced development. Four dimensions are sorted by the mean:career concern> career curiosity> career confidence> career control. 2.The analysis of influencing factors of career adaptability:(1) University student’s career adaptability is significantly different in gender, group, grades, and family adress; there are no significant difference in whether they are only child, parents’education background, and family structure.(2) University student’s career adaptability is significantly different in whether they have part-time job or internship experience and major satisfaction. In’whether they have joined in associations’and’whether as a student cadres’, there are significant difference of undergraduate’s career adaptability, while there are no significant difference of postgraduate’s career adaptability.(3) Professional values. The results of Hierarchical regression analysis show that the achievements, social promotion, and easy stable significantly predict career adaptability.3.The analysis of the results of Evaluation on University Career Guidance Questionnaire:Overall, student’s demand for career guidance is relatively high, the degree of understanding and participation to career guidance is relatively low and lack of initiative; university students approve of its helpfulness to the work of current school career guidance, but they also believe that the content of the guidance is not deep enough and strong targeted, and hope that the school should invite more relevant experts and provide students with more social practice opportunities.4.The interview results of university career guiders show that students are not clear on positioning their career life, lack of understanding of their targets, and also have not formed a correct view of employment. Whereas the university career guidance mostly pay attention to the quick effectiveness and skillfulness of contents in employment guidance, but not from a development perspective to give students a systematic and comprehensive career guidance.On the base of empirical research and the interview investigation, this study suggests that universities should pay attention to the development of university student’s career adaptability, emphasis on university student’s career guidance, and strengthen the education on university student’s career life to creating conditions for positive development of university student’s career adaptability, so that enable students to make adequate preparations for their career development.
