Computational ability cultivation of primary school students at grade1or2will determine the student’s quality in leaning mathematics in the future. However, in the actual practice, the author finds that low-grade students’computational ability is severely restricted, particularly those poor students who suffered the greatest influence display larger gap with the high-grade students in learning. Therefore, the author tries to find the specific reasons causing poor performance in computation and the teachers’deficiencies in the teaching process through study of teaching design theory, actuality research and analysis of poor students’computational ability, and attribution analysis of poor students’undesirable computational ability. Based on these reasons and actual situations, an empirical approach is summarized here which is expected to improve the poor students’computational ability and optimize the excellent and average students’computational ability as well, consequently it is possible to enhance the whole class’computational ability maximally. The paper consists of the following part:Chapter1analyzes the reasons preventing the development of students’ computational ability, and indicates the research significance of this paper. Then by referring to the actuality both at home and abroad, and the research objective, the importance of this research is expounded. Finally the research content and methods are introduced.Chapter2proves the meaning and feasibility of training students’computational ability relying on teaching design through statement of teaching design notions, requirements on computational ability under the new curriculum standard and the humanistic theory. In Chapter3, the fundamental reasons preventing development of poor students’ computational ability are found through analysis of the actuality low-grade students’computational ability. The main reasons are ascribed to deficiencies in teachers’computation teaching design, which causes deficiencies in students’ learning.Chapter4proposes some strategies for improvement of poor students’ computational ability processing from study actuality analysis, teaching goals and teaching implementation strategies. It is clearly pointed out in the paper that study actuality analysis is the premise for teaching design which can guide the setting of teaching goals, while clear definition of the goal will improve the quality of teaching implementation strategies.Chapter5is the conclusion part which provides a brief concluding based on the practical information of this research and reflects on the shortages of the research.
