Online game develops rapidly and has become an important way for people entertainment. Especially for young people who have been the major players of online game, online game has been a part of young people learning life. Because online game not only can achieve the needs of respect for young people, but also can meet the needs of respect and the needs of self-realization for young people. The research about integration of games and education and design of the edutainment games,which can meet the needs of young people more than one level,avoid violence, pornography and other negative impact of online game and achieve a certain educational purposes has became a very important area of research in educational technology.Maslow believes that each person has two different types of needs. One is the low level of needs, which is a gradually weakened need in accordance with the direction of the rising biological spectrum, including physiological needs and security requirements. Another is known as a high level of needs, which is gradually emerging as the evolution if biological needs, including social needs, the need for respect and self-realization. As a cyberspace with many social natures, online game can provide opportunities for the players to meet the needs which the real world can’t meet or difficult to meet. This is the motivation of players to participate in online games and continue to play.The needs of players to a large extent determine the design and development of the game. According to CNNI2008large-scale online game survey, the proportion of online games which only get a sense of accomplishment for the purpose up to49.4%.Game design various functions of modules to meet different levels needs of players, especially the high level of need. For example, the modules of team, chat, battle and the co-ordination between different professional players in battle meet the social needs of players. The social status of player and his team in game, the level of player and the top equipment can meet the need of respect of players. By the in-depth understanding of the game and continued efforts of players, the role played by the players grow from a low-level to a hero with best equipment, best PK technology and high social status in games meet the need of self-realization of players. AS the module designed to meet high level needs of players, arena can provide the opportunity of players PK to meet the players respect and self-realization through the competitive mechanism of game. The Arena is a common module in commercial games, but the study about the arena of educational games belongs to the blank stage. Like, the educational players have the basic needs as the same as the commercial players. By meeting the social needs of players, the respect needs of players and the self-realization needs of players, the well-designed arena can inspire players to continue to play the game and maintain a high level of game motivation. So the research on educational games arena is essential.According to the research topic, the text is divided into five chapters:Chapter1introduces the background of educational games arena and the current research of the arena of commercial games and educational games, the content and structure of this study and the significance of the study.Chapter2defines the related concepts of educational games, educational games arena and introduces the theoretical basis and applied to educational games arena design.Chapter3designs the educational games arena. With the basis of analysis of the commercial game arena and combined with the specificity of educational games, summarize the design, technical framework and business processes of educational games arena. Then design an arena in "Happy Learning", which is an educational game, and make a deeply analysis of the technical framework of the educational games arena. According to the functional requirement of the arena framework module, select the solution of each module in the arena of educational games arena:the MVCS mode to achieve the client design of educational games arena; the multi-threaded application to design the server of educational games arena; the SQL S WRVER to storage and manage the data of educational games arena.Chapter4discusses the concrete realization of the educational games arena, first chooses the technical program of the educational games arena, and then describes in detail the key techniques and algorithms of the client, server and database.Chapter5reflects on the shortcomings in the study, and Prospects the future of education Gamers Arena.
