Ambivalence over emotional expression is a new research field to further explore the relationship between emotional expression and mental health problems. The research of ambivalence over emotional expression mainly concentrated in foreign countries, while it has just begun in our country; and most of the research samples are college students, while it has not been involved in a specific occupational group, such as teachers.Under such researching circumstances, this paper is based on the theories and the measuring methods of the scholars at home and abroad and combined with the characteristics of the primary and secondary school teachers in China. Firstly, we build up a set of tools with good reliability and validity to check and measure the ambivalence over emotional expression of the primary and secondary school teachers. Secondly, we study888in-service teachers mostly in Guangdong Province. We analyze the statistics of the researching result on different demographic variables and its differences in the ambivalence over emotional expression of the primary and secondary teachers. In addition, this paper also discusses the relationship between personality, emotional working and the ambivalence over emotional expression. Finally, this paper makes a conclusion of the researching results, points out its value and its limitation of this paper and proposes the advice for further research.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1) The structure of the ambivalence over emotional expression in primary and secondary school teachers under working conditions is made by three dimensions, namely the ambivalence over emotional expression on students, the ambivalence over emotional expression on colleagues and leaders, and the ambivalence over emotional expression on parents of the students. The questionnaire is reasonable, reliable and with good validity, which not only conforms to Chinese social and cultural background, but also reflects the professional characteristics of the primary and secondary school teachers. It can be used as a measurement of the ambivalence over emotional expression in our country;(2) The score of the ambivalence over emotional expression of the primary and secondary school teachers is in the middle, the teachers’age over50scored significantly higher than the age of50;(3) The surface action and deep action of the emotional working, the adaptability of personal traits and altruism are playing significant roles in predicting the ambivalence over emotional expression;(4) The higher the ambivalence over emotional expression of a teacher, the lower their jobs’ satisfaction, it also has a bi-directional prediction of the ambivalence over emotional expression for their colleagues and leaders with their satisfaction in the colleagues’ relationship and the leadership;(5) The adaptability, sociability and altruism of the ambivalence over emotional expression play an intermediary role; surface action and deep action play a regulatory role in job satisfaction.
