As the old saying goes,"We should be concerned about the affairs of our family, country, and the whole world, as we could hear the sound of the wind, rain, and the thunder", the contemporary middle school students should no longer "be buried in the books", but should "have the whole country and the whole world in view, and look to the future". The news has a strong flavor of the times, is closely related to the life, and has the authenticity, timeliness and other characteristics. What is more, a considerable part of the news is closely related to the ideological and moral subject, and is the good ideological and moral teaching material.This article defines the meaning and characteristics of the current affairs and current affairs education, and discusses the present research situation, research content and significance; it discusses the theoretical basis and practical basis of the application of the current affairs in the ideological and moral class in junior middle school; it analyses some problems existing in the application of the current events in the ideological and moral class in junior high school: dealing with the relationship between teachers and students incorrectly, the lack of the application method and the manacle of the current education evaluation system; it studies the application principles of the current affairs in the ideological and moral class in junior middle school:importance, closeness, timeliness and positive principle; it puts forward that a teacher should use the "Autonomy-Inquiry" method, the "Problem--Inquiry" method, and should properly use the information technology to assist teaching and should use other measures.The research of this topic can help the students to understand the events at home and abroad basing on the current affairs, help them to link theory with practice, improving the students’ interest in ideological and moral class, help the students to improve their ability of analysis and judgment and their ideological level, ultimately improving the teaching quality of the ideological and moral class, enhancing the effectiveness of education, promoting the implementation of quality education at school.
