It is no doubt to learn a foreign language even the importance of fluent foreignlanguage in social life and the world of economic globalization today. But for a longtime, under the baton of the college entrance exam-oriented education, our country’sfoundation in English education and teaching ignores the use of skills developmentand training of students in the language, but it is more inclined to the knowledge ofthe language indoctrination and accumulation, making China high school studentsstill ubiquitous " Gaofendineng,""dumb English " phenomenon." Full-timecompulsory education”,2001issued by the Ministry of Education, Ordinary HighSchool English curriculum standards (trial version)," said high school students bothfor English teachers in teaching in a new and higher requirements. Through the wayof the questionnaires, conduct a survey of English daily teaching position in twosenior high schools of the city urban. In the investigation discovered that because ofmany kinds of factors and restrictions, the teaching ways are quite unitary, thestudents do not have enough space and the time to carry on spoken language exchangeand so on, so-called “mute English” the phenomenon was in the reason. In order toenhance the high-school student English actual utilization ability and the spokenlanguage proficiency, the author aims at understanding the teaching present situation,unifies the new class accurate spoken language teaching ideas, selects two classes ofGrade Two to take the experimental classes, while using the active teaching methodsin English classes. This thesis focuses on the activity approach which closes to life inpersonal information exchange, team competitions, role-playing, and brainstorming,to finish the story and so on. After a semester’s teaching experiment, with the twotime’s test results of the experimental class, the student questionnaire has carried onthe statistical analysis. The result showed that carries on English teaching with theactive teaching method, not only enhanced the student English study interest, causesthe student to become the main body of the classroom, moreover promoted betweenstudent’s cooperation, thus sharpened the student English actual utilization ability andthe spoken proficiency. The thesis also pointed out the shortcomings and deficienciesof the test, while pointing out the direction for future research.
