Parent is the first teacher in the growing process of individuals, who plays a very important role in this process. Children are the key group in society and the future of the country. Their healthy developments are very meaningful to the development of society. As a result, only family education can be provided well, can child has a good family environment to grow up and develop. At present, the government has already realized the importance of social work in solving social problems, so from March,2008, social workers were assigned to schools to provide professional services and to assist students to solve their problems. I was one of these social workers that I was assigned to a primary school in urban village to develop social work services. Through the connection with students and parents, I found that99%students are migrant children, whose family educations are not good. Their parents have low level of educations, so parents don’t provide enough family education to their child, which leads to the poor school performance of their child. It also affects students’normal study progress and their process of socialization. Therefore, it is very important to explore the reality and process of family education in terms of leading parents conduct family education correctly. In this study, the research area was the Shang Xia Sha urban village community in Fu Tian District in Shen Zhen. The research subjects were students and parents from Xia Sha primary school. This study conducted a questionnaire survey and then analyzed the current status of family education in urban village. The suggestions and strategies were discussed as well from the social work perspective. The results showed that:1. Parents do realize the importance of family education but they are not sure how to conduct family education correctly. Parents need more effective communication ways with students.2. Parents lack of educational ideas, and their communication lack of planning.3. The focuses of family education are narrow.4. There are few interactive contents between parents and students. Therefore, following suggestions should be paid attention to:first, we should help parents to make plans so that they can conduct more durable and effective family education. Second, we should improve parents’realizations about family education and broaden the contents of family education. Third, we should assist parents to obtain professional knowledge and skills about family education to meet their needs.
