| Task-based language teaching was first put forward by Indian linguistic N.S.Prabhu in 1980 s.It refers to a teaching approach in which teacher designs a series of tasks which are authentic or similar to the real life and helps the learners use the target language to complete the tasks. In the process of completing the tasks, the learners enable to get exposure to the language, comprehend it and finally learn to use it.In domestic English teaching, grammar always plays an important role. However, although the students have learned so many grammar rules and a lot of knowledge about grammar, they still cannot use the language. Under this circumstance, applying Task-based Language Teaching Approach to promote grammar teaching has become an inevitable trend.In this thesis, the author conducted a teaching experiment which lasted for a semester to testify the two major questions as follows:(1) Does Task-based Language Teaching help to promote the students’ proficiency in their English grammar learning?(2)Does Task-based Language Teaching help to increase the students’ interest in English grammar learning? In this study, the author adopted a way of contrasted experiments. In the experimental class, the author adopted Task-based Language Teaching approach to teach the students’ English grammar, while in the control class, the author still followed the traditional PPP method for English grammar teaching. By the ways of pre-test and post-test, pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire and the classroom observations, the author drew the following conclusions:(1)After the experiment for a semester, there is a significant difference between the students’ English grammar scores in the experimental class and the control class, and there is an obvious change in the students’ English grammar scores before and after the experiment in the experimental class, indicating that Task-based Language Teaching Approach can help to improve the students’ English grammar learning proficiency(2) The application of Task-based Language Teaching Approach to English grammar teaching can help to increase the students’ interest and confidence in English grammar learning. The study shows that Task-based Language Teaching is feasible and effective in high school English grammar teaching. It’s expected that by studying this topic, the author can work out some feasible suggestions for the application of Task-based Language Teaching Approach in high school grammar teaching, making it better and more effective. |
