Secondary school students are our country’s mainly reserved force of athletic talents. The one of main gathering places of athletic talents is track and field teams in ruralsecondary schools. Excellent management in the track and field teams in ruralsecondary schools, higher quality of the teams’ training and more outstanding backupathletic talents are important factors for China to maintain sport power in the world. But in fact the training and management of track and field teams in rural secondaryschools are unsatisfactory. In order to continually promote the development of the trackand field teams’ training in rural secondary schools, and to provide more track and fieldtalents with high qualities, The thesis spread researches and interviews in ruralsecondary schools in Zhongshan city, thoroughly reveal the current situation andproblems of the development of the track and field teams in rural secondary schools andprovide solutions. The thesis will take one of Zhongshan’s schools, WanglangSecondary School for the main study object. The thesis studies the management situation of track and field teams in rural secondaryschools and will take Langwang Secondary School as the main study object. Researchmethods used in this thesis are references citing, experts interviewing and questionnairesurveying. The conclusions are as followed:1) Most rural schools did not develop a long-term training program system. Someschools just provide training for upcoming games and would stop all training oncethe games were over. The so-call track and field training programs were yetincomprehensive. Trainings provided by coaches lacked of system and wereexecuted at a strongly arbitrary way. What’s more, the qualities of trainings providedwere low.2) Most school didn’t take athletic training seriously and didn’t put enough emphasison it. Leaders of those schools just take a nominal charge of the training work andrarely involved, which badly restricted the development of the after-school track andfield training in rural secondary schools. 3) As the leaders of secondary schools neglected the training of track and field teams, the training funds were used in other aspects which led to the lack of funds for trackand field teams’ training and impacted the training effectiveness.4) Under the traditional concept of schooling, many parents didn’t understand thetraining and feared that their children would suffer hardship from training, whichdirectly influenced the training of secondary school students.5) Moreover, affected by the traditional exam-oriented education which emphasis oncultural subjects instead of athletic training, the training was not supportedsystematically and the training schedule was not guaranteed.6) In rural secondary school, the training site and quality of training equipment arepoor. Without enough training funds and subsidy for athletic students, there addeconomic burdens for their families.7) The irrational structure of the secondary school teachers in rural areas resulted to thelack of professional teachers in track and field teams’ training. Coaches had to copewith the burden of long-hour training which would definitely affect the quality oftraining. Meanwhile, the mobility rate of coach was high. It’s difficult for ruralsecondary schools to retain good coaches. It is a long-term development process for China to foster more track and fieldtalents. And the development is constrained and influenced by various factors, thusthere needs a continually improvement process. This thesis takes the track and fieldteams of rural secondary schools in Zhongshan City as the basic study objects. It willfocus on the management of track and field training teams in rural areas. In order toimprove the quality of training teams and to foster more excellent athletic talent for ourcountry, this thesis could be used as reference data.
