The reform of test contents and question design in College Entrance Examinationhas long been the focus of education ircle and even the whole society, as a result, a largenumber of in-depth researches have been made into it in recent years. The present paperis intended to probe into classical Chinese test questions in the College EntranceExamination by comparing educational beliefs, question design, reading materials andtest items and so on in China Mainland and Taiwan over the past five years, in the hopeof finding a potential solution to our new curriculum reform.Taiwan shares the same origin, and cultural traditions with the mainland, while itsclassical Chinese teaching attaches great importance to instillation of nationalideas, inheritance of Confucianism and cultivation of national feelings, which is whatwe can learn from. Besides, Classical Chinese teaching are the question type wheremainland test takers lose the most points. Therefore a thorough research into theclassical Chinese question design in Taiwan college entrance examination papers willdefinitely benefit our new curriculum reform. The present paper compares classicalChinese question design in the college entrance examinations of the mainland andTaiwan in such aspects as difficulty, contents, and life-orientation of the questions.Furthermore, the writer proposes corresponding suggestions in the hope that we canretain our advantages and meanwhile absorb their merits so as to advance theeducational development in the mainland in the end.
