Curriculum reformation and the system of three-level curriculum managementspecify the different power about the curriculum between the State, local educationauthorities and the schools. And the principal’s curriculum leadership gets moreattention and develops into an independent research area. Taking h-primary school asthe study, this research firstly picking the Chinese and foreign literature aboutprincipal’s curriculum leadership in recent years, trying to understand its backgroundand theoretical base. Then, striving to show the real status of this area.About curriculum leadership, principals need to do many things, successfulcurriculum leadership need to build an organization in order to provide support for theoperation of curriculum leadership. Curriculum leadership is different form the coursemanagement, and vision is the most important difference. To implement curriculumleadership, firstly, the principals must develop the shared vision of school, then reflectthe educational objective in its shaping and spreading process. With the team and theshared vision, the principal should carry out the functions of curriculum leadershipduring the curriculum reformation, pay attention to the school culture, theimplementation, the school-based curriculum development, the course evaluation, theteachers’ professional development, etc. The principal need to keep reflection,improve the curriculum leadership and seek for the internal and external support.Scholars’ research on curriculum leadership tends to be maturity, but it is still aunfamiliar area for some principals. They still have many puzzles about this. Such asthe inadequacy about curriculum leadership caused by lacking awareness andprofessional quality, the role question caused by transition from administrative toprofessional authority, the implementation problem caused by teachers’ and students’short of participation. This article intends to start further discussion on this issuethrough my own opinion rather than solve the problems that exist in curriculumleadership, so then the principal curriculum leadership can get development.
