Athletics basic motor skill means the way of action skill including walking, running, jumping and throwing. Pays attention to the elementary students’basic motor skill development is the needs of students’development, the teaching content reform needs, also the foundation of sports curriculum reform needs.With a new round of the curriculum reform, there arises following problems: teaching emphasis on affective objectives, ignore the development goals; teaching content with the game characteristics, ignoring the students basic motor skill learning; the lack of effective evaluation tools, the sports teaching quality and effect can’t be evaluated.Based on the students’future development, physical education should pay attention to students’basic skills development; evaluate students’development level in time. This research take Nanjing as an example, investigating the pupils’track and field movement skill development level, and on this basis to develop evaluation scale of pupils’motor skill development.Using methods of literatures, questionnaire, interview, test method and mathematical statistics, the study draws on the results as follows:1." track and field basic skill" defined as include walking, running, jumping and throwing and other physical activities. Study primary school students’track and field basic motor skill development level and evaluation contribute to the goal of school sports curriculum movement skills, make up for the lack of PE course, provide tools for teaching evaluation, fill the blank of pupils motor skill development.2. Pupils in the physical qualities and agility to develop sensitive period, choose basic motor skill index as the coordination and agility evaluation of track and field, consistent with the growth and development rules of students’physical quality.3. The elementary school track and field basic skill development level has following characteristics:First, the lower the level of learning is, the higher the corresponding motor skill development level is, namely the students grows, movement skill level does not achieve the level of learning period;Second, individual differences among the students’basic skill development level, the development level of walk, run action is better than the jumping and throwing, throwing skill rises quickly in the third level.Third, primary school student’s track and field development with gender differences, running and jumping events differences with age increasing, walking and throwing difference decreases with age.4.The basic motor skill development evaluation scales is the standards to measure the development level of the primary body coordination ability, it does not have a specific direction.5. As limitations of the test conditions and sample qualities, the test scale has certain limitations, whether can be applied needs further verification and research.
