With the development of knowledge-based economy, higher education accelerate economic growth more efficiently. The strategic position of higher education in China is also apparent, and been paid more attention from the world. Since Reformation And Opening, China’s higher education has experienced rapid development, which greatly improved our human capital structure, and significantly improve the overall quality of labor, provides a strong guarantee for China’s high-quality and high-speed development of economy.In this article, the author researches how the composition of higher education to affect China’s economic development from the view of human capital. Firstly, this article discusses the ways that the composition of gradation in higher education to affect economic growth by using of Cobb-Douglas production function including human capital endogenously. Then,on the basis of Lucas’s specialized human capital model, the author thinks that the necessary condition of the composition of major in higher education enhances economic growth is that it must adapt to the development of industrial structure.On the basis, this article studies the extent to that the human capital of gradation composition in higher education affecting the economic growth by using of the panel data from all provinces in China in2004-2009. The results as follows:the contributed rate of higher education human capital to gross production is far more than non-higher education human capital, which means the achievement of higher education in China deserves affirmation; the contributed rates of three levels of higher education human capital,such as postgraduate,college students and junior college students,are increasing successively,but their changing trends are different. The author thinks that the gradation composition of higher education remains many problems from the view of economic efficiency, especially in the level of postgraduate and junior college students.Next, this article also studies the extent to that the level of human capital of different majors of higher education effecting the three industries’development by using of the time series data from the whole country in1996-2010. The results as follows:the human capital levels of every higher education’s majors have no remarkable effects on the primary industry’s development; the human capital of economic and management、law and engineering major promote the development of the secondary industry and the third industry dramatically, and other subjects’human capital posses different effects on the two industries. The author recommends that it is necessary to improve the composition of our nation’s higher education subjects in order to boost the adjustment of the industrial structure and further the economic development.
