Study On Occupational Choice Of Students From Technical College

The employment problem of higher vocational college students is very serious because supply exceeds demand, so it is necessary to provide occupational guidance for the students.The thesis studys on the occupational choices of these students and uses the theories and methods of occupational planning home and abroad for reference.With the example of students from Chengdu Vocational&Technical College,the author measures the interest types,vocational values,character types of these students,and analyze the present situation and characteristics of the students.It draws the conclusions as follows;1.The interest type of vocational college male students is in a sequence of social-enterprising-realistic-investigative-conventional-artistic, female students is in a sequence of social-enterprising-artistic-conventional-investigative-realistic. Male students are more inclined to realistic,investigatve interest type,which is coherent to their major,but their investigative capability should be developed.Female students are more inclined to artistic,conventional interest type,the ability to handle with conventional affairs should be improved.2.Vocational college students pay more attention to self-development,health care, male students emphasize on reputation and social status.The character type of students is in a sequence of extraversion-feeling-thinking,which is coherent to our open-minded,friendly society.Male students are inclined to introversion.Their investigative interest type is not related to thnking character type,so they need to improve thinking and analyzing ability. Students of conventional interest type should improve their sensing character,to be patient,and devoted,otherwise,their character is not suitable for their major.3.Students of realistic,investigative interest type are inclined to introversion character,their working conditions is arduous,so they do not emphasize on health care,but on self-development and social status.4.The interest types,vocational values and character types of students from cities and countryside differ a lot,so they should make occupational choices carefully.
