Gratitude is defined as a person’s cognition of something good or kind done to them, the feeling of being grateful and the act of wanting to express the appreciation to society or the people who helped him..As the traditional virtue of Chinese people, gratitude should be incorporated into the core values of today’s college students. Although there are some researches at home on the issue of college students’gratitude, the researchers are not systematic and incomplete for they focus on qualitative research rather than quantitative research. So far there is no such research on the state of college students’gratitude in Guizhou province. This study carries outt an investigating on the current gratitude situation of Guizhou undergraduates by the self-made questionnaire. It discusses the gratitude characteristics and existing problems and analyzes the success or failure in gratitude education in the colleges in Guizhou province. At last it puts forward solutions to the problems in the education countermeasures. This study is of great significance to the promotion of the healthy development, cultivation of the virtues for college students in Guizhou province, and the improvement of the quality of gratitude education in Universities of Guizhou Province.Findings in this study:1. The self-made questionnaire on the situation of students’gratitude in Guizhou Province meet the standard of the educational estimation. It is of high reliability and validity and can be used as the instrument in this investigation.2. The gratitude cognition, attribution, act and the whole gratitude level of Guizhou undergraduates exceed the theoretical value, indicating the relatively high gratitude level of Guizhou undergraduates. The ranking of all dimensions is as follows:gratitude cognition, gratitude attribution, gratitude act.3. Generally, the gratitude level of Guizhou female undergraduates scores high than that of male undergraduates in terms of of gratitude cognition, act and the gratitude sense.4. Significant difference is found among undergraduates from one-child families and non-one-child families in aspects of gratitude attribution and act. In terms of gratitude attribution, the level of children from non-one-child family is much higher than that from one-child family. However, on gratitude act, children from one-child family shows higher level than that of non-one-child family. In general, the gratitude situation of students from non-one-child family is much more positive.5. Significant difference varies among Guizhou undergraduates of different majors in gratitude attribution, act and the whole gratitude level. On the whole, in terms of the gratitude situation, the liberal arts college students are much more positive, followed by engineering college students, while the art and physical education students are worst.6. There is no significant difference in gratitude cognition, attribution, act and the whole gratitude level among various grades. In general, the sophomores rank first, followed by the freshmen, while the senior students rank last.7. In terms of gratitude act, urban students score much higher than the rural students. However, there is no significant difference in aggregate scores of gratitude, gratitude cognition and gratitude act between the two.8. Sponsorship affects the gratitude level of undergraduates to a certain degree. In dimensions of gratitude cognition and gratitude attribution, students who are sponsored score remarkably higher than those who are not sponsored.
