The development of teachers’ professional skill is the key to success of education andguarantee of smooth carrying out of educational reform. Famous teachers are the mainstreamof reform in new lessons. The study of them has a great effect on the development of reformsin lessons, the improvement of teachers’ qualities and many other ways. Focusing on thenumber of famous teachers at high schools and famous teachers’ workshops in manyeducational institutions in Dalian, this article, which shows the characteristic of their path tosuccess, factors which influence their growth and suggestions we get, aims to provideconstructive advice for the development of high school teachers’ professional skills.This article, using methods of analysis of documents and interviewing, concludes phasesand characteristics of their growth, self-factors and other factors which influenced theirgrowth from the study of4cases of famous teachers. Self-factors involve noble professionalideals and strong professional belief, plans and reflection, lifelong study and innovation;while other factors mainly include good environment at school and in society, experience ofopen classes, practice of educational research, good example of teachers and teamwork.Accordingly, we draw a conclusion: the school should introduce “teaching and learningscheme” with detailed measures and norms, and appropriate evaluation and reward scheme toencourage teachers to further their studies and do educational research. This will result inteachers coping with their laziness with self-efficiency.
