Modern distance education has the rapid development by virtue of the advantage ofnetwork and information technology. Its growth in the number, scale and influence marks themodern distance education is playing an important role, in meeting learning requirements,building life-long learning system, and in final, to construct the learning society. So more andmore life-long education scholars are engaged in modern distance education. As we all know,perfect and sound learning support services is the essential to the successful modern distanceeducation, so it will be of great significance how to help learners to deal with thecontradiction between the self-regulation learning and distance education quality, and to buildthe learning support services which is a truly learner-centered and promotes their fulldevelopment.This study is based on learner’s self-efficacy which is throughout the whole learningprocess in distance education, and designs and develops the learning support services that canhelp learners to have higher self-efficacy and learn better interaction with the environmentand management with their thinking and activities. At first, this thesis proposes theimportance of learning support service and self-efficacy in distance education, and elaborateson their development from research status quo overseas and in our country. Then, it designsthe support services from the academic support and non-academic support and proposes thelearning support services model in order to enhance learner’s self-efficacy. In the model, theacademic support services is described from learning objectives, learning resources, learningstrategies, learning evaluation, and non-academic learning support services includesself-cognition and social learning support service. At the last, we design and develop thenetwork curriculum in order to enhance self-efficacy.Self-efficacy is the important factor that affects learners in distance education. The thesisis based on learner’s self-efficacy and strives to provide some suggestions on learning supportservices construction and improving the distance education quality in the future.
