Modern society is information and high-tech society. More and more high requirementsare for talents. Mathematics is the core knowledge that the modern talents must master. Thusimproving middle school students’ mastery of mathematics is one of the main targets ofmiddle school mathematics teaching. In order to improve the quality of teaching in school, there are many new styles of teaching mathematics. All over the country, many schools haveintroduced the style of Lesson Plans for Guidance, the Guangpo middle school, where myexperiment took place, is also using the same style for teaching mathematics. This dissertation firstly outlines the characteristics of the style of Lesson Plans forGuidance. It is a style based on "students as the center, teachers as the guiders". It emphasizesthe students’"learning" and "guide" of the teacher. Teachers purposefully guide students, inspire students, pay attention to cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability, cooperationability, stimulate students’ interest in learning.Lesson Plans for Guidance is mainly composed of links of independent learning goals, difficult point, cooperation and learning, exchange exhibition, consolidation in classroom, summary, job design, and expanding and improving. In every link teachers and students play adifferent role, students are active actors in each link. These links closely link up and form aunified dynamic process. Then in the dissertation we compare the style of Lesson Plans for Guidance and thetraditional style of lesson plans. In latter style, classroom is fulfill of "force-feeding" means, teachers is the center, teachers tell and students listen, teachers teach and students learn, students passively accept knowledge, students do not have initiative. In style of Lesson Plansfor Guidance, teachers are only as guiders, students have initiative for learning, grouplearning, group cooperation, communication and mutual learning. All of these let the studentslearn, discover problems, solve problems by themselves, and more greatly stimulate students’interest in learning mathematics. Finally, we analyze the experiment results in the Guangpo middle school. The resultsshow that scores of students with teaching in the style of Lesson Plans for Guidance arehigher those students with teaching in the traditional style. A lesson plan of quadraticequations in one variable for guidance is given. As a summary, we analyze advantages anddisadvantages of teaching in the style of Lesson Plans for Guidance.
