The social studies in primary schools is comprehensive. The state passed "Compulsory Education Law of the People’s Republic of China" in1986and then the state education commission made the syllabus of social studies in primary schools by "Nine year compulsory education teaching plan", our country sets social studies in primary schools. At the beginning of21st century, our state experienced the new curriculum reform of basic education,"Moral" and "Society" are combined into one course in primary schools. This course can be regarded as the social studies in the new era. It is more comprehensive.Primary school studies from the1980s society set up to now but for more than20years, but it has gone through a huge development evolution. During this period of its development trajectory showed the following characteristics:first, the integration of the course became more and more deep. Second, the content gradually reflect a student-centered, and focusing on the personal growth of students. Third, social common sense in the proportion of the social course are rising, moral education status is outstanding.Compare "The syllabus of social studies" in1988with "The morality and society curriculum standard" in2001and "The morality and society curriculum standard" in2011, we can find the social studies in primary schools is more comprehensive and practice; Its moral connotation is unceasing rich and it is more important in social studies. And it developed on its course objects:Firstly, the objects are more reasonable with the development of curriculum reform. Secondly, the objects are more specific, it emphasizes pupils’diversified development, especially the students’emotional development. Thirdly, it pays more attention to the students’active learning and development. The objects of "Morality and Society" build the framework as the center of the development of student, it emphasizes "Student centered", so it is very different with "Knowledge centered" in "The syllabus of social studies"The primary social textbooks integrate of informative, thoughtful, scientific and interesting, teaching activities and social practice are combined closely. The guiding ideology of the textbooks is clear, the editorial content are suit for the child’s psychological and physiological characteristics, the writing form is novel and lively. Compare primary "Society" with "Morality and Society" textbooks, the advantages of "Morality and Society" reflect on: more integration content; increasing the proportion of social common sense; the language close to the students; more pictures and forms; variety design of columns, concerning about the cognitive characteristics of children.Nearly20years, the development of the social studies in primary schools has made significant progress, but also meets various problems. Such as primary school social studies face to practical difficulties, and relative to Chinese, mathematics, and other courses, school, families and social does not give enough attention. In addition, a serious shortage of primary school social studies teacher is a huge problem, so primary school needs to raise the quantity and quality of social studies teachers.Overall, the evolution and development of the social studies in primary school is a continuous process, including the integration of subject knowledge and the integration of disciplinary methodology, and gradually formed a multi-level, full range of organic combination.
