The postgraduate education takes the responsibility of training high-level talents for socioeconomic development, and it is the main power of enhancing the overall strength of the country and international competitiveness. With the development of our society, economy and higher education, how to propel the development of postgraduate education to fit with the needs of society by reformation deserves thinking and practicing. From the middle of1990s to now, some colleges and universities successively carried out the reformation on the education system of master candidate in China by decreasing study time. In some colleges and universities, the reformations on master education system get numerous achievements, but it’s unavoidable that the reformation on master education system is still in an exploratory stage and needs to be perfected. Especially, after the reformation on master education system failed in some colleges and universities, the reformation problem caused concern and dispute. How to perfect the reformation deserves to be thought and studied seriously.Firstly, this thesis reviews and surveys the history of reformations on education system of master candidate in China, and summarizes and expounds the practical background factors which propel the reformations on master candidate education system in China, such as internationalization of higher education, support of policy environment, expansion of mast educational scale and variation of mast cultivation aim. Secondly, this thesis elaborates the current situation of reformation on master education system in China in two aspects. One aspect is the survey of reformation on master education system in China, and the other aspect includes the reformations on study time, cultivation aim, course setting, academic theory requirement, and management system. Thirdly, the arguments between various organizations on the reformations of master candidate education system in China are divided into the theory of approval and the theory of suspicion. The groups and the reasons holding on different standpoint of these two theories are also cleared. Based on the research and analysis above, we obtain the conclusion that the reasons to the argument on China’s master education system reformations include the definition of reformation motive, the reorientation of cultivation aim, and the improvement of supporting measures. Meanwhile, the problems of reformations on master education system in China are revealed. Finally, based on the deep comprehension of the problem on China’s master education system reformation, this thesis reasonably presents the principle of localization, characteristic, differentiation, classification, and flexibility, and then comprehensively proposes a series of reformation measures, such as acting according to circumstances, setting curriculum system reasonably, arranging study time scientifically, innovating teaching content and method, adjusting the requirement of academic theory, strengthening the construction of teaching staff, and enhancing the construction of student quality assurance system.The main possible innovations in the theory are as following:The first contribution is that we adopt a novel research method combines the documentation method with interview to gather and collate a mass of first-hand data for status quo of the reformations on China master education system, this provides the advantageous supports for us to grasp the nature of the problem exiting in the process of the reformations on China master education system comprehensively; the second contribution is that on the base of realizing the problems of the reformation on master education system in China, this theory puts forward both the principles and strategies to perfect the reformation scientifically.
