Fitness clubs emergied in cities in the process of industrialization and urbanization.Fitness Club takes the goal of improving people’s living quality and life taste as itscentral values. It’s the core market of sport industry as well as an important part ofnational health-keep plan Government policies, people’s rising awareness to healthkeeping, widely reporting from medias and more leisure time people have, all thesereasons makes fitness club an important recreation place in modern society, animportant choice for people to improve their health as well as an important aspect onpeople’s sports consumption. However, as the main health-keep and recreation way forChinese people for a long time in history, Wushu hasn’t make it’s place in fitness clubs,thus makes the lack of Wushu in fitness clubs. So, it is of great help to take Wushu intocity fitness clubs and makes it an indispensable part of health keeping in cities, which issurely of great significance for the future prosperity and development of ChineswWushu.The paper uses the methods of document, questionnaire, interviewing,mathematical statistics, logic analysis and so on. It takes the operators of city fitnessclubs, Wushu coaches and club members as its researching goals and makes its researchfrom the angel of sociology on why Wushu is missing in fitness clubs.Research shows that, it’s a fact that Wushu is without doubt missing in city healthclubs.(1)Not only that there are few clubs having Wushu as its classes, those whichhave have quite few class types and limited lessons. Until now, there are no clubs whichhave independent Wushu training place.(2)Most of the managers of fitness clubs areyoung people, most of whom are of great education lever but few of them ever practicedWushu, and none of the managers have intrest to make Wushu as health keeping item.(3)There are quite few clubs which makes profit while most are just able to keep balance of are in the state of loss. The popularization of Wushu items in city fitnessclubs is weak and Wushu is in the content just to show more choices.(4)The coachesin clubs are mostly too young and most of them take it as a part-time job. They havequite short experience of Wushu teaching, which makes them not experienced, notstrong in service awareness. The content of their Wushu teaching is monotonous andthey have no platform to communicate with other coaches.(5)Most of the membersare workers, females outnumber males. Members lacks interest in Wushu and showslittle effort in practicing Wushu while setting their first goal in the club as to keep looseweight and keep shape.
