The notion of college students’belief in communism has been mentioned several times in the media recently, which is accepted by both the government officials and the experts and scholars specializing in ideological and political education. However, there are not many treatises and articles on the research of the belief in communism. This article intends to refer to the former studies and make an systematic and profound interpretation in simple language, expanding the space of study in this field. In addition, this article also provides theorical support for the wide practical application to college students’ideological and political education. It includes six parts as follows.The first part is the introduction to this article, which mainly includes the meaning of the study, the status quo of the relevant research at home and abroad, the basic methods adopted in the study, and its innovation.The second part interprets the belief in communism in detail, mainly introducing the historical background, the connotation and denotation, the features and the functions of the belief in communism.The third part concentrates on the present situation of the belief in communism. Having a positive attitude towards communism and supporting it becomes a mainstream among college students, while the lack of belief in communism is existing among part of college students, which is characterized by vague understanding of communism, beliefs being diverse, utilitarian and secular, the lack of social responsibility, and the highlight of non-mainstream consciousness.The fourth part makes an analysis on the reason for which some college students lack belief in communism. The writer concludes that it was mainly because of the present social situation, the impact from diverse cultures, the serious corruption, the disadvantages of the ideological and political education in universities, relegion penetration, the family environment, and the defects of college students themselves.The fifth part focuses on the content of the belief education on communism and the main methods to develop the education. The writer considers that the main content of it includes the education of ideals and belief, the education of national spirit, the education of the spirit of the times, the education of the outlook of value, the education of the theotical system of marxism, and the positive education of religious culture and policies. The main methods applied to develop the education are through the theorical classes for ideological and political education, the college activities after classes, the Party and league organizations, the news media and family education.The sixth part proposes six pieces of advice on developing the belief education of communism, that is strengthening the systematic construction of Marxism, training the excellent teaching faculty, increasing the influence of the Party and league organizations among college students, intensifying the external environment construction of the belief education on communism and encouraging college students to learn Marxism consciously and spontaneously.
