In the long course of development,“shendu” has formed a rich connotation andcomplete system, which is extremely vital moral education content and methods, and is animportant part of traditional Chinese culture. As ancient Chinese important thought ofcultivating one’s morality,“shendu” is the unity of method, process and target ofcultivating one’s morality and raising a gender, which will produce very powerful moraleducation effect if it is applied to the university moral education. On the first, this paperintroduces the moral essence of “shendu” from the meaning and characteristic, thephilosophy interpretation and the modern meaning (as a method of cultivating one’smorality and raising a gender, it reflects the people’s self-discipline; as a process ofcultivating one’s morality and raising a gender, it embodies the subjectivity to the person;as a pursuit of moral realm of cultivating one’s morality and raising a gender, it advocatestranscending ourselves and pursues perfection and excellence of human nature). On thesecond, it explains theory value of "shendu” to the university moral education with thecombining site of “person” from different angles, namely, as a method of cultivating one’smorality and raising a gender, it helps to cultivate the self-discipline advocated by themoral self-discipline education; it embodies the subjectivity to the person, which helps topromote the main body consciousness required by the moral education; as a pursuit ofmoral realm of cultivating one’s morality and raising a gender, it reflects the selfimprovement, which helps to improve the nature of transcendence of the moral education.Finally, the paper introduces the enlightenment of “shendu” to the moral education inuniversities. Firstly it introduces the phenomenon of ignoring person in the current collegemoral education work to some extent, namely, which emphasis on morality heteronomyand ignores the moral self-discipline, and covers the ontology value of person’sdevelopment with tool value, and ignores the cultivation of transcendence due to adaptingto the tendency. Then it introduces the application of "shendu" to establishing the basicidea of moral education in universities, that is, from morality heteronomy to moralself-discipline, from tool to humanism, to adaption to the transcendence. At last, the paperintroduces the use of "shendu" on basic ideas of improving and perfecting the collegemoral education: pay attention to moral accomplishment, and strengthen moralself-discipline; Strengthen emotional experience, pay attention to a living practice, andexert the students’ subjectivity; Attend and meet people’s transcendence need, and cultivate the "well-doer".
