How to improve learners’ sense of happiness is every educator’s pursuit. Less teaching, more learning is one interpretation of the new ongoing curriculum reform.Current school education is characterized as being “compressed”, particularly in Grade3in high school.⑴From the perspective of teachers: what will be taught in high school math classes tocultivate students’ learning autonomy effectively? And what challenges will the model “lessteaching, more learning” meet in the current classrooms?⑵From the perspective of students: what impact and influence will it make on students’understanding and evaluating of what they learn? The object is to understand the currentsituation of the students in Grade3Year12. From “Q&A booklet”, the researcher carriedout case study and comparative study and discussed the strategies for less teaching, morelearning. Students’ feedback demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of the trial.Study of the issue shows that emphasis on pre-class assignment and reserving a fixedtime for student talk in lesson planning for Year12students led to a more active class, enhanced teachers’ presentation skill of math thinking as well as facilitated mathematicalinnovation capacity of the students.
