With the deepening of the new curriculum reform process, the attention about the use of teaching materials methods and teaching material contents are increasing. Geographical discovery has become one of worldwide significance topics. Most of countries have generally get the attention of scholars.About geographical discovery in the research on history, relevant research results are abundant. There are also some controversial problems on this theme, including its concept, starting and finishing time, and drawn out of the history of the world stage. And the specific on one of them to the evaluation of historical figures, and more focused on the evaluation of Columbus. About the two countries comparative study of teaching materials focus on subjects such as physics, biology, more than the study on history textbook comparison that mainly concentrated in the two countries curriculum standard, high school history education goal, the consciousness of citizen training, etc. It is not pretty much study on two countries in the content and the teaching high school history on the details of the comparison of. Under the new curriculum reform, teachers’ role is gradually transform into the person who conveys ideas of history and historiography dynamic, therefore, the selection of teaching contents is much greater flexibility than before. With the historical research results of become increasingly rich today, the teacher should learn to study the teaching material combined with historical research and intergrate different kinds of curriculum resources to be in agreement with actual history teaching.The dissertation is composed of three sections:the introduction, the main body and the conclusion. The introduction mainly introduces the research work on the subject of geographical discovery and high school textbook by Chinese, American and European scholar and then describes the theory basis and both the academic and realistic significance of the subject. The main body is made up of three parts. The first part sets YueLu version for object, which introduces the application and teaching material contents. The second part of this article mainly makes analysis for the World History Patterns of Interaction which is published by McDougal Littell of Houghton Mifflin company for9-12grade in high school as history textbook. At the same time "geographical discovery" as the theme for its contents was summarized and analyzed. The third part is the focus of this article, in the view of textbook content, edition setting, teaching-problem design and other aspects of the common and difference. Briefly analyzed the differences in the reflect a certain historical different points of view. Conclusion summarize the advantage of two textbooks., the aspects which link need to be strengthen of the difference and common for further outlined. Some suggestion is put forward about the parts which should be paid attention to the process of teaching.
