Because of the different history of China and the United States, during the long term, the two country formed different life style, different cultural and values, and so on. The historical understanding and value orientation of education will be different. China pay much attention to the understanding and grasping of knowledge, emphasize the fundamental knowledge and systematic problem. On the contrary, The United States pay more attention to the learning method in history studies. This article will particularly analyse the textbook between U.S. and China, to proclaim the different idea of history textbook between China and the United States. In this article, four versions of high school history textbooks of China are published by the People’s Education Press of China, Yue Lu Publishing House, People’s Publishing House and Elephants Press. The United States high school history textbook is adopted by the United States largest literary and educational publisher Houghton Mifflin Company under James McDougal Intel Li Company specializing in high school textbooks published by the World of History, it is to be United States9-12grade world history textbook. The paper adopts the method of case study, through the comparison between China and the United States in the textbook of " The Great Depression," and analysis the difference between China and the United States about target, history and culture, and reflects on our current history teaching, looking for new ideas and inspiration for our high school history teaching and education reform.This paper will include citations, text, and reference. Among them, the text in four parts:the first part of this paper introduces the using condition of China and U.S. high school history textbook, and their application range and teaching area. The second part is the focus of this paper, with "The Great Depression" as a case, including four parts:the View of the Definition, Content Presentation Mode, Historical Materials Selection and Class Exercises Design. The paper explains the differences between China and U.S. history teaching in details. Among them, Content Presentation Mode is divided into Writing Differences, Chart Presentation and Introduction Differences. The third part analysis the differences of China and the United States history textbooks and the reasons, dividing into "The Differences Of China and U.S. History Textbook " and "The Reason Of China and the United States history textbooks differences". The Causes of their differences divide into the Sino-US situation、Education Targets、Education System and Conception of History. The fourth part is the conclusion of the full text, it summarizes the differences between China and U.S. high school history teaching, and concludes the reason of differences. This paper gives some advice for Chinese world historical teaching.
