National Music Syllabus (Curriculum Standard) is a guidance document on the subject of music education issued by our country. These files are of great significance for the study of contemporary school music education development in China. The present study takes the eight different versions of "Elementary School Music Syllabus"(Music Curriculum Standard) as the research subjects. It attempts to track the development and changes of music course from the aspects of education concept, teaching materials and practices in the past60years, aiming at clarifying the relationship between the various versions of music syllabus and their development and changes. Furthermore, the present study explores the historical thread of school music education in our country, in order to provide some reference and enlightenment for the development orientation of school music education in the future.The specific content of the present paper is as follows:The introductory part presents the reasons for the topic selection and the research significance and value. The first chapter reviews the different versions of music syllabus. Meanwhile, it extracts the key words, and makes a brief summary. The second chapter analyses the concrete concept of education reflected in the syllabus of different times, as well as their relationship and mutual influences. The third chapter looks at the setting up and development of elementary school music teaching materials in different times ever since the foundation of our country, which can provide some understanding on the value, goal and implementation of music courses from a side view. The last chapter examines the music teaching practices on a basis of the evolution of course syllabus, thus revealing the developmental situation of front-line music teaching in the past several decades of our country.Revelation the direction of development of the music curriculum reform of the music syllabus, the music syllabus reflects the social music education development, the music syllabus reflects the changes in the status of "person" in music education. This paper is to sort out the course of development60years after the founding of the school music education and research, from the school music education development and changes, absorb and learn from the experience and lessons of history, objective knowledge and insights on the future of the music curriculum reform, in order to grasp the direction of future development of music curriculum.
