Yangzhou City Of China And Guyana Georgetown City Middle School Students' Sports Motivation Cross-cultural Comparison

Self-determination theory(SDT) was made by the psychologist Deci and Ryan with its focus on the fact that human behavior to what extent is voluntary and self-determined. Self-determination theory indicated that human being is positive biological creature, which has potential for self realization and the ego growth, each individual has congenital, inner, tendency to develop self, seeking self integration Through questionnaire survey about the high school sports motivation between the China yangzhou city and Guyana Georgetown city, this paper discusses how differently two cities students differentiate in term of nine sports motives dimension differences and the reasons for the differences in nine measured physical sports under the background of different culture, national conditions and economic disparityWe use the<The Situational Motivation Scale>(SIMS) which contains intrinsic motive, extrinsic motivation, identity motivation and no motivation and<Physical Activity Measure-Revised>(MPAM-R) which include interest motivation, competence motivation, appearance motivation, fitness motivation and social motivation. Through questionnaire survey,we selected600people from yangzhou middle school students and500Georgetown city high school students and survey data with mathematical statistics of the independent sample T-test for significant difference analysis and methods of literature, field investigation, interview method of observation and further analysis is discussed.The results of the study are as bellow:1.Under multinational cross-cultural background, self decision theory in China yangzhou city and Guyana Georgetown city high school students shared generality.2.The diffferences between China yangzhou city and Guyana Georgetown city high school students, in The Situational Motivation Scale (SIMS), of four dimensions of sports and the internal motive and identity adjust motivation does not exist significantly. The differences between Sports external motivation and no motivation there existed significantly.3.Differences between China yangzhou city and Guyana Georgetown city high school students in the Physical Activity Measure-Revised (MPAM-R) of the fun motivation of sports, ability motivation and healthy motivation did not exist significantly. The differences between Sports bodies motivation and social motive exist significantly.
