The Anti-Japanese base in northwest Shanxi is notonly the barrier and the avant-garde of theShaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, but also theforefront of the fight against the Japanese attack.Simultaneously it is adjacent to the Kuomintang ShanxiArmy Garrison. The situation in the struggle andcooperation in the Anti-Japanese base in northwestShanxi coexist.In1940, the Communist Party of Chinaestablished the regime in Northwest of Shanxi. In order to consolidate the bases,resist the enemy’s military threat,break the economic blockade of the enemy,fight for thefinal victory of the War of Resistance against Japan,withthe leading of the Chinese Communist Party, the baselaunched a vigorous social education campaigns.Thegeographical location of the northwest ShanxiAnti-Japanese base was very special during the War ofResistance against Japan,moreover it was a complex andsensitive area with various forces struggling. So the socialeducation played a very important role in the firm stanceof the revolution of the masses and the Anti-Japanesesentiment.But the Anti-Japanese base in northwestShanxi was located in the mountains, blocking traffic, verybackward economically and culturally. There were very few literate people in each village, the vast rural areaswas almost a cultural wasteland. This situation wascompletely out of touch with the reality that Chinesenation must fight independent and counter Japaneseaggression.Therefore, during the creation anddevelopment of the Anti-Japanese base, the popularity ofsocial education, raising the cultural awareness of thebroad masses of peasants, had become an important taskof the Communist Party and its organizations at all levelsand the Anti-Japanese democratic government.This paper mainly constituted by three parts includingthe introduction, body and conclusion in a total of eightchapters. The first chapter is the introductory section.From five aspects, which is the purpose and significance of the topic, the definition of the concept, research trendsin China and abroad, the study’s data and methods,innovation and disadvantages, introduce reason whychoose the topics and the results of previous studies.Thebody is Chapter Two to Chapter Seven, Main content is thesecond chapter which briefly describes the background ofthe social education in Anti-Japanese bases in northwestShanxi. Firstly combing historical archives withnewspapers to reveal northwest Shanxi Cultural andeconomic conditions before the social educationmovement happened and secondly the creation of basenorthwest Shanxi was introduced. Based on the history ofeducation the Northwest Shanxi base education policyduring the war is introduced in the third chapter-the new democratic education and a series of social educationprograms, ordinance when the northwest Shanxi regimepromulgated established,as well as the content andorganization of the social education; In Chapter four thestart and development of Anti-Japanese War socialeducation is analyzed following the time period; In Chapterfive the educated groups such as cadres and masses arestudied from the content of education, forms oforganization, execution and other aspects.In Chapter sixthe social influences of social education were describedin the areas of the determination of the social educationof the People’s War of Resistance against Japan, thestrategies, political awareness, enthusiasm forproduction, living habits in Northwest Shanxi bases.In Chapter seven,Social inadequacies in the development ofsocial education in Anti-Japanese bases in northwestShanxi are described and recognized. The eight chapter isthe conclusion which is a comprehensive summary of thecharacteristics and meanings in different stages ofdevelopment for the social education of the anti-Japanesebases in northwest Shanxi.The social education in northwest ShanxiAnti-Japanese bases is the education of the wartime statewith the leadership of the Communist revolutionarymobilization.It rose in the majority of the rural culture ofthe desert and followed the basic principles for the warservice, for the production of services, to serve themasses.The development of a new democratic education was promoted, the quality of popular culture was improved,some vulgar and negative traditional were changed, thepolitical consciousness of the people were raised, theenthusiasm of the people in the anti-Japanese andproduction was mobilized, the grass-roots party membersand cadres and cultural qualities were ensured.Furthermore the cadres and personnel for the victory ofthe War of Resistance against Japan got prepared for thevictory of the war of liberation and the establishment ofnew China. The purpose of leading rural and Party politicalorder established in the countryside had been achieved.This article used a large amount of historical archivesand literature newspapers data and made use of somebasic methods of historical research, such as Regional History, Empirical Analysis and so on. The articlesystematically listed out the social educationalbackground, the content and the restrictions of theanti-Japanese bases in northwest Shanxi at all levels.Social education in the bases had carried out vigorouslyso that a cultural movement and a political offensive weredeveloped with huge effectiveness.
