In the age of knowledge economy and building a learning society of today, thecooperation of school and community has become take the attention of countriesaround the world. Effective communication between school and community (hasbecome an important trend of the world education development. Many countriestake a variety of ways to strengthen the communication between school andcommunity. Schools and communities sharing education resources to promote thetwo sides both get benefits. In our country, the contact between school educationand community is still in its infancy, the cooperation between school education andcommunity far behind the needs of actual form, the cooperation consciousnessbetween school and community is not strong, communication channels,organizations, policies and regulations,etc are not enough perfect. So the paperchooses American school-community cooperation in primary and middle schoolsas subject in order to get lessons.American’s education has always led the world, it has a long history and richexperience on the partnership with school education and community and formed aset of school education system as the center of community. School and community staffs take an active and effective part in promoting the cooperation betweenschool education and community. Although there are many differences in cultureand tradition between America and China, they have the same realistic needs. So,we should accord to the situation of our national conditions and education,recognizing the reality of rationality at the same time. It is very important andnecessary to learn from America school-community cooperation and to explore theeducation mode of our country.This dissertation from four aspects to explain: The first one sorts out thehistory of cooperation between school and community. The second part analyzesthe situation of American school-community cooperation in primary and middleschool. Selecting two cases as the key to research in order to get a deep understandabout its cooperation between school and community. The third part analyzes theimpacts to school and community. The fourth provides some constructivesuggestions and explores educational mode suitable for our country.
