With the development of national economy,the way of people’s life haschanged,obesity is becoming increasingly highlighted.Now people are increasinglyconcerned with the topic of obesity,because the obesity not only affects people’sphysical health,but also influences people’s psychological health.The phenomenon ofadolescents’ obesity is also more and more obvious.Some researches have found thatthe obesity may lead to the happen of bad mood.Also, a study found that the obesestudents have more behavioral problems than the normal weight students.Therefore,inthis paper,I do a comparative study on emotional intelligence and problem behaviorbetween obesity and normal weight students in the middle school.to know the basicsituation of the obese students’ emotional intelligence and problem behavior.Then,thestudy can provide datum for school and parents in their education and improve theeducation effect and make obese students’ emotional intelligence and problembehavior of develop healthy and steadily.On the foundation of referring to numerous correlative documents,the studysampled236students from one middle school in Jinan.This study used EmotionalIntelligence Scale and YSR as research tools to compare the present status ofEmotional Intelligence and behavior between obesity and normal weight students.Theresearch result is as followings:1.The obesity group and normal weight group have significant difference on eachdimension and the total score of emotional intelligence.The normal weight studentscores higher.There is significant difference between obesity group and normal weightgroup in anxiety/depression、withdrawn、 somatic complaints、 social problems、other problems and total score.The obesity group scores higher.2.There is significant difference between boys and girls in emotional perception、 emotional management、emotional use and total score.Girls’ score is higher thanboys.There is no significant difference between boys and girls in each dimension andthe total score of YSR.3. Grade Seven scores higher in emotional management.There is significantdifference between Grade Seven and Grade eight in depression、somatic complaints、social problems、Thought Problems、Rule-Breaking Behavior、other problems andtotal score.Grade eight scores higher.4.Emotional intelligence total score and all factors are negative related withanxiety/depression、somatic complaints、social problems、attention problems、rule-breaking behavior、other problems and YSR total score in obese group;Emotional perception and emotional management are negative related withanxiety/depression and social problems in normal weight group;emotional use isnegative related with anxiety/depression、withdrawn、social problems and YSR totalscore in normal weight group;emotional understanding is negative related withanxiety/depression、somatic complaints、withdrawn、social problems and YSR totalscore in normal weight group;emotional intelligence total score is negative relatedwith anxiety/depression、withdrawn、social problems and YSR total score in normalweight group.5.In obesity group,emotional management can negatively predictanxiety/depression、social problems、somatic complaints,emotional understanding cannegatively predict YSR total score.In normal weight group,emotion understanding cannegatively predict anxiety/depression and social problems.The conclusion of this study can make the school and family pay more attentionto the obese students and have certain help on obese students’education problem.
