Medium has become one of the main forces in the process of the evolution of social civilization in the modern world. No matter broadcast, televisions and newspapers in the past, or computers, mobile phones and internet by now, the development of emerging medium eventually brings the tendency of media and information. As medium is used more and more wildly in every social field, the dependence on media of the public takes on a ascend trend. Even though the emerging medium brings convenience to people’s life, its setbacks and the negative effect are more obvious than before. The medium environment is filled with some fake and vulgar content, which lures the public away from their cognitive and critical ability.As one special group, high school students are in the important period of establishing right world view, outlook on life and values. Because of their immature thinking and psyche, high school students are more likely to be influenced by others out of their incomplete judgment and analytical ability. In this case, students are more vulnerable to the negative information which could lead profound consequences for their study and life. Therefore, judging medium critically, as well as using medium correctly is an important skill for the high school students to keep out of the negative information nowadays.The students from Gansu Huining No.1High School and Lanzhou No.1High School are the study objects. By using a questionnaire and free talks, the author tried to view the current status of the media literacy for the high school students in Gansu Province. Meanwhile, analyzing differences between students from different living conditions and economic conditions in the same province is the other aim of this study.
