With the comprehensive advancement of new-curriculum reform, thechanges of students’ learning style have become distinguished characteristic andcore mission for this reform. The former way of education with mechanicalmemorizing and cramming is out of date. Besides the fundamental knowledge, teachers should choose the most important and appropriate teaching content outof abundant knowledge, and pass it on to the students with the best way. A moreimportant responsibility of teachers is to guide their students to gain knowledgespontaneously and actively. This requires the students’ fully participation inteaching process, instead of passive receiving, so that they play initiative oflearning adequately. How to optimize the teaching process, and creativelyintegrate the knowledge in the textbook to enhance and maximize the languageliteracy for students within40minutes? This is a question which is worth ofthinking for every Chinese teacher. This coincides with Prof. Guo Sile’s conceptof “Student-oriented Education”, which emphasizes the high receptiveness of andtotal dependency on students. It is required that the focus changes from“teaching” from teachers into the “learning” from students, which means a stepback for teachers from a leading role. The function and value of a teacher are tostimulate students’ internal initiative with his utmost, and help the students toorganize their self-learning.This thesis is based on an experiment of curricula reform named “Archi-tecture of reading class teaching mode with the concept of Student-orientatedEducation” from Su Hu Jie Experimental Elementary School, New City District,Hohhot City. By practice research, such as literature reading, interview ofteachers and students, field observation, practical teaching participation and so on,the author tried to figure out the perfect matching point between“Student-orientated Education” concept and teaching of Chinese reading coursein senior grade elementary school, organically combine and integrate the“Student-orientated Education” with new-curricular reform, propose apreliminary idea of learning method which is appropriate both for student andteacher by learning from “Student-orientated Education” concept. The aims of this thesis are to enhance the effectiveness of Chinese reading class teaching insenior grade of elementary school, to tailor the way of teaching and meet the realdemand of students, and to help the students to acquire fully cultivation anddevelopment.Through nearly3year’s experiments, the learning atmosphere inexperimental class becomes positive and active, with the evidence of harmoniesof interaction between teachers and students, students’ strong eager for learning, and realization of “manage to write, love to learn, and good at thinking”. Thesechanges of students overwhelmed all teachers and parents, and the reading forstudents are skyrocketed. By doing “Student-orientated Education” experiment, author had a strong feeling that the detailed explanation by teacher will neverreplace the students’ inspiration out of their self reading. It is teachers’ job to begood at designing more highly effective practice activities, by doing which, students could be guided step by step to gain the knowledge and ascension ofthought by their own feeling and thinking. The effectiveness of class has beenenhanced by students’ active participation. This thesis is comprised by of three sections. Section I mainly describes therelevant concepts of student-orientated Education and effectiveness of classteaching, current study achievements, and the theory and feasibility about thisthesis, and finally, illustrates the reasons of choosing this topic; Section IIanalyses the problems, as well as the root cause, of existing reading class insenior grade elementary school in a great detail, and proposes the factors whichaffect the effectiveness of class teaching; Section III introduces the operationalprocess how the author applied the concept of student-orientated education tobuild and perform the effective class teaching of reading class in senior gradeelementary school. This section describes how to stimulate students’ initiative topromote the class teaching effectiveness and cultivate their language literacy byinstruction and guidance of preview, self reading, and team work cooperation, aswell as operational process of intensive reading and skimming. The conclusionpart summarizes the achievement of this research, as well as the still existingopen questions and possible future researching direction. Hopefully this thesiscan give some inspiration to the people who would like to alter the traditional teaching style and create teaching way which is suitable for and meet the demandof the new-curricular standard.
